TEAMBUILDING

& LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Strengthen your team in nature!

Cohesion and trust between individuals has been proven to increase during activities and challenges outside the workplace. They get to know (and accept) each other's strengths and weaknesses and begin to communicate openly and effectively. In other words, multiple individuals merge into a powerful team.

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”

Nature is the perfect place for people to grow, but also for teams to develop. Our tailored corporate and team building activities combine adventure, learning, reflection and relaxation. Leading to unforgettable experiences while forging new or strengthening existing teams and stimulating collaboration.

Expedition team planning a route

Map, Compass, Teamwork

The most popular activity we offer is the Land Navigation course, usually with a wine tasting to top it off!

Participants get professional instruction on how to use map and compass. They are then teamed up and challenged to think ahead together, use time strategically and make smart decisions. In the second part of the day, they walk a team-planned, beautiful and physical route that includes a whiff of competition (because that's healthy!).

Upon returning to the vineyard, there is time for reflection, an evaluation of the lessons learned, and what could be more enjoyable than ending an action-packed day like this at a unique location, with beautiful views, while enjoying some local wines!

This and other activities can be fully customized and dressed up with optional extras, such as:

  • Transportation to and from the location,

  • Picnic-style lunch,

  • Paella or BBQ gourmet cooking workshop,

  • DJ and dance facility, etc.

Fire as a Liason

Fire-making as a team building activity?!

Yes indeed!

Fire is an essential element of survival and from an evolutionary perspective still strikes a deep chord as soon as it burns. Even the participants who beforehand expressed doubt they would enjoy it, ignite with joy (pun intended!) once they succeed in getting a fire lit.

This course repeatedly proves to be a powerful team-building activity, bringing people together, breaking down barriers, exposing frustration tolerance, and ultimately creating a shared sense of accomplishment.

Participants will learn the basics of fire making and safe knife use. They are guided through time and the ways human methods of fire making have developed. They get to try out some of these methods themselves and ultimately challenge each other in subgroups to see who mastered the element of fire and burns through a rope fastest.

What begins with learning a seemingly primitive skill ends as an unforgettable experience in which cooperation, perseverance and fun come together. Old stories resurface and get shared, new stories emerge; laughter and connection is always the result.

This is an activity that will resonate for a long time, both in memory and in interpersonal relationships.

Nature Walk
With new eyes

The Nature Walk is no ordinary walk, but a guided exploration where participants are invited to look at their surroundings with attention and wonder. Guided by an experienced guide, we slow down and sharpen the senses – listening to the rustling of leaves, feeling the texture of tree bark and learning about the subtle interactions between flora and fauna. Slowing down creates space for new observations, for curiosity, for connection with your surroundings, as well as with yourself.

This walk is designed to plant a lasting seed. In each instance participants leave the trail with a renewed perception of nature, and perhaps of themselves. And those who learn to look at nature with more awareness also usually learn to be more aware in life.

Next Leader Expedition

The Next Leader Expedition is an intensive multi-day leadership program in nature designed specifically for up-and-coming talent within organizations: the people most likely to take over the reins someday. This expedition challenges, inspires and transforms.

At Outdoor Heroes, we believe that this next generation will shape the future and thus the key to sustainable progress. Early investment in developing their awareness, empathy, resilience and responsibility lays the foundation for future-proof leaders who put the greater good first. In the broadest sense possible.

What makes this expedition unique?

The expedition does not begin and end with the adventure in nature. For lasting impact, pre-expedition assessment and post-expedition coaching follow-up(s) are part of the program.

During these expeditions, participants are intentionally moved far outside their comfort zone. They are confronted with physical and mental challenges and intensive team scenarios that expose true leadership. They venture exactly where friction exists and where the most personal and professional insights occur.

Without distractions such as phones and time, participants really get to know themselves and each other.

They will be challenged to lead, follow, let go, trust and take unrequested responsibility – in a very dynamic group context where all of this is experienced very directly.

Wilderness is one of the masters in this school of learning. The environment and weather will both pull and push the group. Participants will learn survival techniques and test their improvisational skills to the limit. Existing structures blur here, creating space for natural leadership.

The expedition is overseen by professional wilderness guides, a coach, and in some cases a psychologist who further facilitates the integration of the experience.

This life-changing experience is designed to have lasting effects far into their careers. Participants return with:

  • a foundation for authentic leadership,

  • more empathy and emotional intelligence,

  • proven resilience in tough conditions,

  • sharpened self-insight and reflective ability,

  • a newly formed perspective on responsibility,

  • the ability to bring others along in the journey of change,

  • an unbreakable bond with fellow expedition members!
