More about this fire making survival course
During this course you will learn how to make fire with limited resources and all techniques involved with doing so successfully.
You get (more) knowledge about how to process wood, how the build-up of a fire works, what functions a fire has and why it is so crucial in survival situations. During the practical part we will practice all the techniques involved. After a brief introduction on the safe use of a knife and saw, you will process wood into different stages for your fire. You will learn to make feathersticks and you will ignite different types of tinder with a firesteel (also known as a ferrorod). To then build a sustainable fire.
The old fashioned way of fire making, with flint and steel, will be covered as well. You will learn to char cotton so it will easily catch the spark from the flint and steel, and how to ignite dry materials with it. Toward the end of the course day, participants will get a Survivor-style fire-making challenge, and enthusiasts may attempt a primitive method: friction fire with the bow drill!
Of course if you have your own materials (knife, firesteel, etc.) it will naturally be fun to test them or get to know them better! Knives and firesteels will be available for those who do not have them.
Coffee included. Lunch is not, but will be as fun as participants make it. The fire pit offers endless opportunities to share your cooking skills!
Other details will follow by e-mail after registration.
